Here at Kore Industries, we’re passionate about who we are, what we do, and the plastic gears that we manufacturer. In the world of plastic gears, there is a bewildering array of specialized gears that all feature their own unique set of benefits and applications. Today, we’d like to tell you all about the different types of plastic gears that we can offer and that we can manufacture. From custom plastic gears, to plastic gears for cars, we’re the plastic gears manufacturer ready to handle all of your high-demand needs and requirements.
It’s true that plastic gears come in a wide range of sizes and forms. From large diameter plastic gears, to acetal gears, and from Teflon gears, to plastic injection molded fan gears, there is always a unique plastic gear that can suit your needs. Now, depending on their uses, their applications within the manufacturing process, and their purposes in the finished product, there could be a number of options available for you to take advantage of.
For example, different gear geometries function differently. For instance, some gears may have different dimensions, they could have a larger or smaller face width, they could have more or less teeth, or they could have an acute or an oblique helix angle. From there, things like precision standards and torque requirements come into play for parameters such as plastic material selection. Ultimately, you’re looking for the right type of plastic gear that can give you the most effective outcome for the product that you plan on using it for.

With that said, let’s dive into the wide variety of plastic gears that we produce here at Kore Industries.
Spur gears use parallel shafts and a cylindrical form to facilitate motion. However, they’re unique in that they do not feature an angled gear profile. In fact, their tooth line is completely straight, which forces them to be positioned parallel to the shaft. Spur gears are quite common, and they offer an exceptional level of accuracy.
Differing from spur gears just a bit, helical gears require a parallel shaft and take on a cylindrical form, but they feature an angled gear profile. Designed to transmit high loads, helical gears are best in high-speed situations because they’re based off of an axial-based thrust force.
Unlike spur gears or helical gears, bevel gears feature a different type of form – these come in the shape of cones. They’re used to facilitate the transmission of force between two intersecting shafts. In fact, bevel gears – although they’re simply plastic gears just like the rest – actually contain their own little family of specialized bevel gears that all feature their own specific use cases.
Worm gears are a particular type of specialized plastic gear. They’re specifically designed in a worm and worm wheel combination configuration that features a simple shaft and screw profile. While they’re commonly produced in cylindrical form, we also manufacture these specialized gears in an hourglass form. This unique form gives the user comprehensive control over the contact ratio between gears.
Where Plastic Gears Can Be Best Applied
While you might not know it, the chances are high that you can find worm gears, bevel gears, helical gears, and spur gears throughout a wide range of the products that you own! From cars, to electronics, to medical products, Kore Industries produces all different types of plastic gears to ensure that our clients have the necessary components to make their products function as they should.
When it comes to the areas in which plastic gears can be best applied, it’s safe to say that the sky is the limit. Plastic gears can be mass produced in a combination of different shapes, sizes, and forms, and they can be designed to handle different load capacities or thrust directions, giving the user complete control over how their plastic gears function in relation to their product.
